Edgewater Park

Edgewater Park is a quiet riverside escape tucked along the St. Joseph River at Edgewater Blvd. and Okema Street. This cozy neighborhood spot mixes peaceful views with simple, well-loved amenities, making it a perfect place to unwind or spend an afternoon outdoors. Families can enjoy the playground, kids can shoot hoops at the basketball court, and visitors of all ages can access the river via the public boat ramp or the ADA-compliant kayak launch. With picnic tables, grills, and plenty of green space, it’s an easygoing hangout for everything from morning coffee by the water to dinner by sunset. If you're searching for a laid-back, scenic hideaway, Edgewater Park is one of Elkhart's best-kept secrets.

The kayak ramp has been removed for the winter and will be back in Spring 2027.

Edgewater Park has roots as humble and heartfelt as the neighborhood around it. The land was anonymously donated around 1984, a quiet gift that became a lasting community space. The park took its name from Edgewater Boulevard, embracing the character of the street and riverfront it overlooks. Today, it stands as a simple but meaningful place where residents come to enjoy the water, gather with family, and connect with nature along the St. Joseph River.

Not allowed in the parks unless you have written permission from the Park Board or its authorized agents.

Animals (§ 96.27)
Please do not harm wildlife or remove eggs or young.
Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet unless you’re in a designated off-leash area.

Camping (§ 96.24)
Camping is not permitted unless you have a valid permit.

Curfew (§ 96.35)
Parks are open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

Drones (§ 96.23)
Drone use is not allowed unless approved by the Park Board or its authorized agents.

Explosives & Weapons (§ 96.22)
Not permitted unless authorized by the Park Board or the Superintendent.

Fires (§ 96.28)
Fires are only allowed where permitted by ordinance.

Littering (§ 96.17)
Please dispose of trash properly. Littering is prohibited.

Peddling (§ 96.25)
Selling goods or services is not allowed without a permit.

Smoking & Vaping (§ 153.72)
Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the parks.

It’s a great place to relax, reel in a catch, and soak up the calm of the water. A valid Indiana fishing license is required.
